And with the final challenge finished and wrapped up, our work here is done.

We hope you all had fun writing to these challenges, some tricky and some broad but everyone gave it their best and we would like to thank every single person who contributed and kept this little comm full of wonderful fiction. (My personal favourite challenge was 'Bottoms Up'. I really enjoyed all the drunk funny Michaels. lol.)

Stats:
In 4 hiatuses we gave you 31 challenges and you gave us a whopping 242 stories! Pat yourselves on the back! I also noticed that the most enthusiasm came just before the start of season 4 and also that you guys really enjoy writing porn.

I wish the thank becisvolatile and smirky_turkey for their early help and my fellow mods msgenevieve, sierra_foxx and wrldpossibility for often picking up the slack and just being great people to share ideas with.

Thankyou again everyone and keep on ficcin'.

Well people, we've finally reached the end of Prison Break. Some of us are devastated, some are over it, some are 'satisfied', some not. Regardless, we at pbhiatus_fic believe we all owe it to ourselves and to this stellar fandom to raise our glasses in salute to this show we loved with at least one final challenge.*

2009 Post-Finale Challenge #1: Ends and Means

What do I have to write?: Write a story (drabble, ficlet, 40 chapter WIP, whatever you like) in which the flash forward at the end of the 4.22 finale is altered. Sounds simple, right? Too simple, I say. So you have to pick one of two options:

1. Group Alternative Ending
2. Individual Alternative Ending

In Group, the beginning of the flash forward remains the same as canon: Lincoln is still at his scuba shop, Mahone is still with Lang but mailing that letter to Pam, Sucre is still saying goodbye to his daughter, C-Note is still staring at the sky (was that the best they could do for him?). Sara still meets up with the gang, Michael Jr. by her side, but instead of going to a grave, they go to....where? Your choice. Michael can be alive or not, your call.

In Individual, pick any character featured in the flash forward (living or dead), and give him or her a different ending. In this option, you can alter any or all of the flash forward for that particular character, but for the rest, canon applies.

Then what do I do?: Once you’re ready to share your story with the world, post it on your LJ (or wherever you normally post your fic), then post a link there in this thread. When you do so, please specify which option you chose. Challenges typically remain open for two weeks, but if you can’t make the deadline, please don’t stress. Let’s face it: the good news is, there's no rush!

Have fun, and if you have any questions whatsoever, just post them here!

*See that wording? We never lock ourselves into anything!

2009 Hiatus Challenge #6: As You Like It
What do I have to write?: Write a story (drabble, ficlet, whatever you like) inspired by a quote from William Shakespeare.
In other words?: Brush up on your Shakespeare, find a quote that speaks to you, then start writing. Oh, and don't forget to include your quote of choice in your author's notes!
Then what do I do?: Once you’re ready to share your story with the world, post it on your LJ (or wherever you normally post your fic), then post a link there in this thread. You’ll have two weeks for each challenge response. If you can’t make the deadline, please don’t stress. Let’s face it, a late story is better than no story.

Have fun, and if you have any questions whatsoever, just post them here!

So, not too many were keen to tackle the Mary-Sue character but she got a few shakes of her glorious locks into fic and she's very happy about that:

New challenge coming up, our last before the new episodes *SQUEEE* and a drabble challenge. I hope you can all get some time to write for it!

2009 Hiatus Challenge #5: Is that you, Mary Sue?

What do I have to write?: Write a story (drabble, ficlet, whatever you want) featuring a 'Mary Sue' style persona as one of the your main characters. For those who are unsure of the term 'Mary Sue' please check the definition meaning here.

In other words?: Your story can take place pre-series, post-series or during Seasons One through Four, it's totally up to you. Just as long as your Mary Sue is featured and let's face it, she/he should be pretty obvious, lol - you're good to go!

2009 Hiatus Challenge #4: Cliffhanger!
What do I have to write? Write a fic (a drabble, fic-let, whatever you like) that ends in a cliffhanger. Whether you continue the story or not is up to you (and maybe your eager readers!) but only the first fic is included in this challenge. Any characters, any genre applies. Canon, AU, post-series, pre-series...have at it!
Then what do I do? Once you’re ready to share your story with the world, post it on your LJ (or wherever you normally post your fic), then post a link there in this thread. You’ll have two weeks for each challenge response.

Questions? Post 'em here!
